About
Madison Mulvihill
Ottawa, ON based
I am a neurodivergent multimedia artist based in Ottawa, Ontario. I work with various materials, including textiles, found objects, ceramics, and more. My artistic practice is deeply informed by my exploration of identity, isolation, and nostalgia through the lens of disability.
A current focus of mine also lies in the political context surrounding women and their bodies—specifically, how they are respected or, more often, disrespected. I am particularly interested in how patriarchal systems perpetuate a culture of "otherness" for both women and disabled individuals.
Through my work, I reflect on how it feels to exist in a world not designed with my needs in mind while contemplating the broader implications of these societal structures on personal identity and autonomy.
